Rice Bowl

Seen the reviews and were a little apprehensive but was great food and the ladies serving was very friendly and looked after us. Definitely will be back.

Despite the star-rating, one thing soured the mood after the meal. A few of us ate here yesterday as a rare treat, but the bill wasn’t cheap, so we waived the added service charge. We were then asked why. To her credit, the person seemed a bit annoyed but phrased it politely as “it’s just that we work hard, what could we have done better?” Nonetheless, I think it was an inappropriate question. Discretionary service charges are an unhealthy business practice, and they’re becoming far too common. I won’t insult the restaurant or its staff by giving an unfair rating. They deserve the five-stars, including the person who asked. I just don’t think an additional charge on top of a healthy bill is a fair way for me to compliment a business. If a restaurant feels the extra is deserved, they have the option of making the fee mandatory and stating it upfront or by further marking up the price of the food and drinks to compensate and upping their staff’s wages. Then, customers can get a clearer picture of the price going in. Apologies to the staff, it wasn’t a reflection of your service, just a matter of principle.

All the food was delicious. Just the right amount of flavour and excellent value. Maybe a couple more vegetarian options would be good. We were really well looked after by the staff as well :-)

We ordered the chicken pad thai, bbq spare ribs and rice. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. Delivery was quick and friendly. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Great food, friendly service and a nice environment. I always order Singapore fried rice as part of my order at new spots, and this was some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Along side the fried duck in capital sauce, made for a delicious dinner.
